Shipwreck of the Spanish cruiser 'Gravina' during its route from Manila to Shanghai on 10 July 1884 due to a typhoon on Fuga Island, in the Babuyan archipelago, when it was heading for the Strait of Formosa in Musa Bay, north of Luzon (Philippines). A large part of the crew was saved thanks to the heroic action of the navy doctor Eugenio Fernández Valdés, who managed to get a cable until the island and secure it, after several officers had failed and died in the attempt.
