One of the many headaches of German welfare authorities is what to do about the hundreds of babies, born of american fathers and german mothers, that have been abandoned by their mothers for economic and social reasons. Such children represent a high precentage of the population of german orphanages and nursing homes. This trio was photographed at a catholic home in Heidelberg. The babies happily know nothing of racial discrimination. Here, Anna (center) and two little tow-heads are enthusiastically nonchalant, not to say bored, as the photographer intrudes on their privacy. Anm.
