Aeroplane in which Alock and Brown made the first non-stop transatlantic flight, 1919. British aviators John William Alcock (1892-1919) and Arthur Whitten Brown (1886-1948) flew a Vickers-Vimy-Rolls bomber between St John's in Newfoundland, Canada and Clifden in County Galway, Ireland on 14-15 June 1919. The flight took 16 hours and 27 minutes and won the aviators a £10,000 prize awarded by the Daily Mail newspaper.
