Universal indicator paper. Universal indicator changes its colour depending on the pH of the solution. Here, left indicator strip has been immersed in an acidic solution (pH=2, 0.01M hydrochloric acid, HCl), centre strip has been immersed in a neutral solution (pH=7 buffer solution), and right strip has been immersed in a basic solution (pH=12, 0.01M potassium hydroxide, KOH).
