Clearwater Paper (formerly Potlatch) mill on the Clearwater River at Lewiston, in north Idaho. The mill produces newsprint, tissue, paper towels, cardboard boxes, and other paper products. The site also produces lumber from a saw mill. The operation burns its waste in a biomass energy power plant, producing its own electricity. The large buildings with smokestacks are scrubbers to control air pollution, primarily hydrogen sulfide. The mill is the largest employer in Lewiston, Idaho.
