Detroit; Michigan USA; 23 June 2023; Detroit NAACP President Wendell Anthony and Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan posed next to a bronze statue of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. The statue was unveiled in downtown Detroit on the anniversary of the 1963 Walk to Freedom. Sixty years earlier; King led a march of over 100; 000 down Woodward Avenue and gave an early version of his famous I Have a Dream speech. The statue was created by Utah artist Stan Watts.
