Directed, acted and co-screenwriter for Easy Rider (1969), Cannes winner and Academy Award nominated for Best Original Screenplay. Starring in Apocalypse Now (1979) and Blue Velvet (1986). Garnering an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor in Hoosiers (1986). Directed Colors (1988), played the villain in Speed (1994).
