Florence and Sir Samuel White Baker (1821-1893), an English explorer. In March 1861 he started upon his first tour of exploration in central Africa. He was the first European to sight Lake Albert Nyanza, now Lake Mobutu Sese Seko in Central Africa and to discover that the river Nile flowed through it. He also founded an agricultural colony in Sri Lanka. The African Adventure - A History of Africa's Explorers by Timothy Severin, page 232.
