medal, Arend Smeltzing, 1667, minted, General: 3 x 0.1cm (30 x 1mm), Weight: 7.8g, three-master, seascape, city coat of arms, Silver medal on the Peace of Breda in 1667, this medal was honored at the district masters of Leiden for their work in introducing the hearth city money. On the front a three-masted sailing to the right is depicted at sea with a figure on the prow. On the stern a flag with an image of the Leiden keys, in the two top flags an A and an S. The ship fires on the port side. Under the sea the inscription: FELICITER. And around the performance the caption: ASSERTO.PER.VULCANUM.NEPTUNO.PAX. The reverse shows the crowned coat of arms of Leiden, with MDC and LXVII (1667) dated on either side. Above a four line inscription: TRIBUUM PRAEF. OB. OPERAM PRAE STITAM .. All around on a banderol the inscription: E.FOCO.REFOCILLATIO, 1884.
