Located at kilometre 279 of the railway line from Madrid to Ciudad Real and Badajoz, between the stations of Almadenejos and Chillón. The bridge collapsed suddenly in the early hours of 27 April 1884, when mixed train number 51 passed, plunging the locomotive, the tender, four cattle cages and seven wagons with numerous passengers to the bottom of the river.
