Titre:
Ireland's Emblems, 1894
Lithograph of Ireland's historical emblems by the Eagle Lithograph Company, 1894. Ancient cross, ancient harp and shamrocks, standard of Erin, roundtower, abbey, lakes of Killarney. The Celtic cross is a symbol that combines a cross with a ring surrounding the intersection. The Celtic harp is a triangular harp traditional to Brittany, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. The shamrock refers to the young sprigs of clover or trefoil. It is known as a symbol of Ireland, with St. Patrick having used it as a metaphor for the Christian Trinity. The sunburst flag is a flag associated with early Irish nationalism. Irish round towers are early medieval stone towers of a type found mainly in Ireland, with two in Scotland and one on the Isle of Man. An abbey has historically been a Catholic monastery or convent, under the authority of an Abbot or an Abbess, who serves as the spiritual father or mother of the community. The Lakes of Killarney are a renowned scenic attraction located near Killarney, County Kerry, in Ireland. They consist of three lakes - Lough Leane, Muckross Lake (also called Middle Lake) and Upper Lake.
