The Huis ten Bosch at The Hague and Its Formal Garden (View from the East). Artist: Jan van der Heyden (Dutch, Gorinchem 1637-1712 Amsterdam). Dimensions: 15 3/8 x 21 5/8 in. (39.1 x 54.9 cm). Date: ca. 1668-70.
In the garden, two ivy-covered pavilions echo the shape of the central Hall of Orange and the cupola of the house. Classical sculpture and trellis-work obelisks mark the main walkways between the French-inspired <i>parterres de broderie</i>.
