Italy, Naples Museum, Herculaneum, House of Stags (or Deer) (IV, 21), Still Life with Peaches. The House of Stags was probably built between 41 and 68 AD. In this painting, found in one of its rooms, four peaches complete with branch and leaves rest on two wooden shelves. One of the peaches is missing a piece and reveals its core. On the lower shelf, to the right, there is a glass jar halfway full of water. A dried fruit or fish lies next to the jar.
