As one of the co-founders of the Vienna Secession, a group of artists that split off from the conservative academy business in 1897, he designed several posters for the Secession exhibitions. The best known is this slender portrait format, which alludes to the unity of the three arts with its three statuesque figures: architecture, painting and sculpture.
