Boat orchid, Cymbidium finlaysonianum. Named for orchid collector George Finlayson. Found by plant hunter Hugh Cuming in Singapore and imported by nurseryman George Loddiges. Short-lipped thick-leaved cymbidium, Cymbidium pendulum var. brevilabre. Handcoloured copperplate engraving by George Barclay after a botanical illustration by Sarah Drake from Edwards Botanical Register, continued by John Lindley, published by James Ridgway, London, 1844.
