Mohandas Gandhi (1869 1948) was the preeminent leader of the Indian independence movement in British-ruled India. Nehru (1889-1964 was the First Prime Minister of India in 1948. Sevagram was the place of Mohandas Gandhi's ashram and his residence from 1936 to his death in 1948.
