Federico Ribas Montenegro, 1890 - 1952. Spanish cartoonist, illustrator, publicist and poster designer. His career was launched in 1916 when he won a poster competition for a famous soap company. He later made his mark in the Spanish commercial art world working for several major brands. His strong, playful use of colour was equally at his service in this amusing illustration for the children's book Los Enanitos Jardineros, published 1947.
