Statue of Hercules, known as Hercules of Farnese. Hercules, muscular and heavily built, stands naked in a niche and leans on his club. The lion's skin hangs over the club. The statue was carved from marble in the third century AD after an ancient sculpture by Glycon and is currently in National Archaeological Museum of Naples. Previously it stood in Palazzo Farnese, from where it got its name. On a rock next to Hercules some words in Greek.
