Mountain Bluebird

Mountain bluebird. Mountain bluebird (Sialia currucoides) flying to its nest in a tree hole (far left). It has an insect in its bill which it will feed to its young. The mountain bluebird lives around plains and meadows in the highlands of western North America, from Canada to Mexico. It typically breeds in the northernmost parts of this range, and spends the winter in the south. It feeds mainly on insects, which it catches in flight as well as on the ground. It may also eat fruit on occasions. The mountain bluebird may reach a length of around 18 centimetres.
