The King Unveils Nation's Tribute to "The Few" - A happy picture of H.R.H. Princess Elizabeth, arriving at Westminster Abbey to the "Battle of Britain" Ceremony to-day (Thursday). Westminster Abbey was to-day (Thursday) packed with relatives of R.A.F. and Fleet Air Arm men who dies in the Battle of Britain for the Memorial Chapel to "The Few" who, by their sacrifice, turned the tide of the war in the dark days of 1940. With the King was the Queen, Queen Marr, Princess Elizabeth, Princess Margaret, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, and the Duchess of Kent. Ministers of State and Service chiefs were also present, The Chapel, which includes a beautiful stained-glass window by Hugh Easton, an English walnut alter by Prof. A.E. Richardson RA, sculptured figures by A.F. ***** RA, and a silver cross and ornaments of five chapels forming the chevet of Henry VII's Chapel. Huge crowds waited in the rain to see the Royal Family, with Elizabeth, whose betrothal to Lieut. Phillip Mountbatten, AN.
