Great Bear is without doubt the most well known constellation. It is easily recognizable by the seven bright stars that form the tail and part of the back of the bear. The Big Dipper, which is often mistaken for a constellation, actually belongs to this group of stars and forms the saucepan shape we see below the bears back. The other stars that make up Great Bear are less bright, and can be spotted more easily on a very dark night.
