The Grace Of Violetta -- Described as 'the world's most beautiful ballerina' Russian-born Violetta Elvin poses for artist Bernard Powell in his London studio today. (Sunday). Mr. Powell confesses to being enchanted by her hands, and, in arranging the pose, ensured that it showed he 'extraordinary grace of her hands and arms'. Violetta has already been painted by celebrated artists, including Italy's Bruno Cassinari whose abstract painting of her was bought for £800 by an Italian industrialist who saw her dance at the Scala Theatre in Milan in 1952.
