Khamas arrive with daughter. Seretse Khama, exiled Chief designate of the Bamangwato trible of Bechuanaland, his wife a former London typist Ruth Williams, and their three month old daughter Jaqueline arrived at Southampton today by BOAC flying-boat to begin their five years' exile from tribal territory. The Khamas were accompanied by Seretse's sister Nalide. Picture shows: Seretse Khama (centre foreground) carrying Jacqueline in a carry-cot, assisted by Nalide, his sister, on arrival at Southampton today. On right is Mrs Ruth Khama and left of Mrs Khama is seen Mrs Williams (behind) of Lewisham, London, mother of Mrs Khama, who was at Southampton to meet the family. 21 August 1950.
