Relief from around the false door in the tomb of Bakenrenef, 3 sections. Dynasty: Dynasty 26. Reign: reign of Psamtik I. Date: 664-610 B.C.. As in the nearby Old Kingdom tombs at Saqqara, the focus of Bakenrenef's tomb was the false door, which was placed on the end wall of the innermost room. The door framed a shallow niche in which had been carved a seated statue representing either Osiris or Bakenrenef himself. The surviving parts of the doorjamb and lintel give his name and titles, as well as offering prayers addressed to Anubis and Osiris. To the sides are spells from the Book of the Dead, and on the upper right the illustration for the spell for "Entering the Great House/Temple" (Spell 123) is preserved.
